How this FPL team planner works

Paste your Team ID and your real fifteen is loaded and projected across the next eight gameweeks: the best legal eleven for each week, the captain and vice, the bench in order, and a total per week you can compare against the week either side of it. The projections are the same ones The Algorithm plans transfers from, with each player's chance of playing already applied.

Planning your chips

Put Wildcard, Free Hit, Bench Boost or Triple Captain on any week in the horizon and it lands on the timeline above the pitch. Triple Captain and Bench Boost move that week's total straight away, because their effect is arithmetic on the squad you already own. Wildcard and Free Hit mark the week and leave the total alone.

Building and testing changes

Swap anyone out and pick a replacement from the full player pool. The fifteen-player shape, the three-per-club limit and your budget are all enforced, and the eleven re-picks itself for all eight weeks on every change.

Questions people ask

What is an FPL team planner?
A team planner shows what your current Fantasy Premier League squad is projected to score in each of the coming gameweeks, rather than just the next one. It picks the best legal starting eleven from your fifteen every week, puts the armband on the right player, orders your bench, and lets you try changes and chip weeks before you commit to any of them.
Is this FPL planner free?
Yes. The whole eight-gameweek plan is free: your squad, every player's projected points week by week, the best eleven, the captain, the bench order and your chip timings. There is no card and no subscription. It asks for an email address once, and it remembers your Team ID so you do not have to type it again.
How many gameweeks ahead can I plan?
Eight. That is the horizon the projections are published over, so every week on the page is a real number rather than an extrapolation. Each gameweek shows what your squad scores if you play the best eleven available to you that week.
How do I find my FPL Team ID?
Open the Points tab on the Fantasy Premier League site and look at the address bar. It reads .../entry/1234567/event/3, and the number after entry is your Team ID. You can paste the whole address into the box and it will pull the number out. Reading a team that way is view-only and nobody ever needs your FPL password.
How does the planner choose my captain?
It ranks every player in your starting eleven by projected points for that gameweek and gives the armband to the highest, with the vice-captain going to the second highest. Because it does this for all eight weeks, you can see the captain changing down the run and spot the week your premium actually pays off.
How does it decide who starts and who is benched?
It searches every legal formation — three to five defenders, two to five midfielders, one to three forwards — and keeps the one that scores highest from your own fifteen. Whoever is left over is ordered on the bench by projected points, with your reserve keeper first, since he can only ever replace your keeper.
Can I plan my Wildcard, Free Hit, Bench Boost and Triple Captain?
Yes. Put any of the four chips on any gameweek in the horizon and it lands on the timeline above the pitch. Triple Captain and Bench Boost change that week's projected total straight away, because their effect is arithmetic on the squad you already own. Wildcard and Free Hit mark the week but leave the number alone: they change who is in the squad, which only a full transfer solve can answer.
Can I make transfers in the planner?
You can swap anyone out and pick a replacement from the full player pool, and the eight-week projection updates as you go. Budget, the fifteen-player shape and the three-per-club limit are all enforced, so anything you build is a squad you could actually field.
Where do the projected points come from?
The same projection model that runs The Algorithm for paying members, published to this page as it refreshes. Every number is expected points for that gameweek with the chance of playing already applied, which is why a rotation risk shows a lower figure than his per-appearance rate would suggest.
What does The Algorithm add on top of this?
This page plans the squad you have. The Algorithm plans the squad you should have: it works out which transfers to make and when, how many hits are worth taking, when to roll a free transfer, and which weeks to spend your chips, over the same eight gameweeks. That is the part behind the subscription.
